Life in September

Well, you may be wondering what we've been up to since celebrating Mackenzie's birthday two weeks ago... the answer is attending more showers and family gatherings than I can keep track of! My sister is getting married in less than a month (!!!!!!) and she had three showers three weekends in a row!!! Then, after the showers were finished, my Mommom and Poppop celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a beautiful reception given by their three daughters. It's been a very busy month for the Moon family! Here are some pictures from the three showers and the 50th anniversary party.

Andrew honored Amy at the family shower on Sept. 7th. He did a wonderful job. I also enjoyed hearing both of the mom's share with their families how God has answered their prayers in giving their children godly spouses. Mrs. Di honored Amy and shared why she loves her so much and then my mom honored Andrew and shared why she is so grateful he is the one God picked for Amy! They were so cute with their glasses perched on the end of their noses passing the tissues back and forth!

Amy modeling the beautiful hat our cousin Kristie made for her.
Then the next weekend, Amy was kidnapped by Jenna, Janet, and Emily and taken to her friend shower. They made her wear this getup and they talked in ridiculous accents the entire time!
She was quite surprised! She had no idea where they had taken her! It was a great idea to have it at Jamie's new house! All the jr. high, sr. high, and college age were there and we packed out the house! I've never laughed so much at a shower either... it was so much fun!
Here are all the bridesmaids that were there!
Then the following weekend we got to surprise Amy with a church shower at Jeff and Angie's house! It was so pretty with an India theme and there was SO much food thanks to so many willing hands in our church! This was a neat shower because most of the ladies that were there were there because they had watched Amy and Andrew grow up!
Here's Mommom and Poppop at their party! They are still SO happy together!
Cutting their cake! They used their orginal cake topper!
Sharing a kiss after the cake!
They danced together for us! They are really good at it!
This is kinda dark, but it's hard to get this many people in one shot! I think it's incredible how two people in love 50 years ago could start all this!! Three daughters, 3 son-in-laws, 18 grand kids (including the new additions from marriages), and 1 1/2 great grand kids (that would be Mackenzie and the one in the oven!) God is so good!! Andy sang "How Great Thou Art" and it's what echoed throughout this whole day!
Thanks for checking in with us... as you can see, it's been kinda hectic and posting kept getting put off! Mackenzie and I are off to FL to visit Jake's parents this weekend, so we'll have many more pictures to post when we get back!

Mackenzie's First Birthday!!!

Here's our birthday girl the day before her birthday! She opened up the gift Nana and Poppop sent her in the mail and loved the box and paper it came in! Later she did enjoy the lamb that plays "Jesus Loves Me" and kept giving it to me to wind up for her again and again. Here she is in her "cool girl" jeans (I just love babies in jeans!) doing one of her big girl tricks! She's so good at walking with her walker! She takes it very seriously too!
Amy snapped this picture at her party and I LOVE it!! Loooook at those little birthday toes!
Where did the birthday girl go??
"Happy Birthday Dear Mackenzie!!"
Mommy and Daddy with their big one-year-old!!
Mackenzie: "Hmmm... do I like this??"
Mackenzie: "I think not... my hands are messy and I can't get this stuff off!"
Mackenzie: "Daddy, will you please show me how to eat this stuff?"
Daddy: "Sure Mackenzie, the trick is to eat a little of the cake part too, not just the icing."

Mackenzie: "Oh look at all my friends! Thanks everybody for coming to my party! What?? You all want to see me eat this cake and like it? Oh, ok!"
Mackenzie: "Cheese!! Pictures anyone??"

Mackenzie: "I love my handsome uncles!"

Mackenzie: "I love my friend Grace!" Mackenzie: "Tired?? Who me?? Are you kidding... give me another piece of cake!"
Thanks everyone for coming to the celebration of Mackenzie's first year of life! I can't believe she's survived, with me as her mom, for this long! God is so good... I think about every morning the first few months where I would anxiously tiptoe into her room convinced she had died in the night, and again and again God protected her and brought her to see another new day! He has written each and everyone of her days in His book before one of them came to be and I am so grateful for all of her days so far that I've gotten to be a part of!

More First Things!

First Thanksgiving... notice the pilgrim hat from Marya
First Christmas... starring as the Baby Jesus in our annual pagent
First Valentine's Day and First Dance with Daddy
First Easter
Favorite Spot at Memom's House
Aunt Angie's first time feeding her... I love their expressions
Four Generations!!!
One of her first favorite toys
Second bout with croup... outside early in the morning with daddy to help open up her airway
Peas...
First time in the baby pool in our backyard... she LOVED it!
And I just wanted to document this next picture. Ever since I found out I was pregnant, this is how we've spent a lot of our mornings. She's fenced in and plays happily with her toys while I cat nap on and off on the couch. She is so pleasant, she'll play happily for 1/2 hr. then wake me up for some cheerios and give me another good 1/2 hr. before she needs breakfast! I've really appreciated how she's let me be so lazy during this first trimester!

New Baby Update: Went to the doctor's yesterday, got to hear the heart beat! Everything looks good, one more week till the second trimester and I've only gained 2 1/2 lbs!! I am celebrating over that... you have no idea! At this point with Mackenzie, I had already gained 10 lbs.!! Having a one-year-old to keep up with (and not craving bacon cheese burgers everyday!) has really helped me keep the weight down in this trimester, when there really is no excuse to gain weight... at the most this baby weighs .5 ounces right now! But man, that didn't stop me last time!

Pictures 2-4 months

This is how she used to sleep: sideways, unmoving, hands over her head, all swaddled up under her big pink blanket!
So serious... looks like she's going to the golf course.
So stylish!
First game of Halo
First bandaids... from her first shots!
First costume... our little sweet pea!
Sitting in her Bumbo seat... looking like a cupcake!
I MISS these mornings! She used to get up early and I'd nurse her in our bed and then she'd fall back to sleep and snuggle with me till 8 or 9 in the morning! They were the sweetest times... I always wondered if I'd regret not "scheduling" the mornings more, but I'm so grateful this is how I spent my mornings with my first baby!

A Year in Review

In light of Mackenzie's first birthday this Saturday, I want to post some pictures this week of the past year. I'll start with itty-bitty baby today!

Yes, I really did walk back to the bedroom the first week and find Jake ASLEEP in this position... only a new dad, right??
